Casa Milagro [Restaurant]

Richardson is making me very very happy with the great Mexican food joints I keep discovering. First it was Holy Frijoles (the best queso in town), and now it’s Casa Milagro!!

Created from the family gene pool of the M Crowd Restaurant group…thank you Taco Diner and Mi Cocina…Casa Milagro has great chips, salsa (spicy – a must), ritas, and fajitas. All of the components that are required for me to return to a tex-mex restaurante. So check it out, it’s delicious and quaint. I only have one request…try the queso and let me know how it is. The 2011 diet has begun. 😦

Discounted Lobster…in Dallas?

Yes, that’s right, I have stumbled upon a place in Dallas that has wholesale live lobster. Or should I say, my husband’s love for lobster sniffed it out. I will admit that cheap seafood isn’t something that usually makes me jump for joy, but last night I was pleasantly surprised.

Matt discovered Lobster Harvest through a family friend and we decided to quench our fall lobster craving with some lobster rolls. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pics of the mania that went down in  my kitchen. It’s kind of hard to bust out a camera when you’re finding out the hard way how to crack open a full live lobster. Delicious Fall Recipes

Things have been super busy in my life and I’ve been meaning to post a blog about our traditional Halloween weekend. I made the most delicious recipes that I absolutely had to share with everyone. So, instead of a Halloween post, consider it a toast to Fall!

We had our traditional evening in, handing out candy, watching scary movies, and of course…cooking up some delicious dishes in the kitchen. I’m not a big dessert person, not that I don’t love dessert, but I try to avoid as many sugary temptations as possible. Halloween though, is an exception, and I baked the most AMAZING muffins ever!! Thank you Martha Stewart!

Saturday Trip To Jimmy’s

I’ve been hearing about this Italian food store in Dallas called Jimmy’s Food Store for quite some time, and today I finally had the chance to check it out. Think Eatzi’s meets local Italian flare. It has the ambiance of a village market with a wide variety of meats, cheeses, pastas, wine, dessert, and fresh produce.

Aside from all of the market varieties offered, they also have a great deli with some delicious Italian Sandwich selections. I opted for the Muffaletta and in return received quite the monstrosity. This sucker was huge. Laced with delicious Mortadella, Ham, Provolone, Genoa Salami, and Olive Salad it was packed full of flavor and absolutely big enough for two.

Autumn is Approaching

October in Texas is definitely my favorite month. The weather starts to cool down, Halloween is approaching, and of course, the State Fair of Texas!! Today couldn’t be more of a perfect day to start out the month right with some tasty fried goodness. So, I am off to the fair today to sample some of this year’s crazy fried recipes.

The State Fair of Texas is the home of the Fletcher’s Corny Dog…hands down my favorite food item at the fair. In 2005 the fair committee established a contest, the Big Tex Choice Awards, to discover the most unique food item presented by the vendors. This year’s award winner was Fried Beer. I’m not really sure how you fry beer, and I will definitely head over to the booth to take a peek…but I think I’ll leave the taste to my imagination.  Continue reading

Hatch Chile Recipes

Hatch season is winding down and I have a few more recipes I wanted to share with you guys. I got another email from Central Market today announcing the arrival of red Hatch Chiles…so, I will probably have a few more evenings of experimentation before the season ends.

The first recipe I adapted from the leftovers of my Hatch Chile Beer Can Chicken dinner, but no worries, you can make the leftover ingredients in no time at all.

Happy Eating! Continue reading

Summer Lake Memories

It’s still pretty damn hot outside…but apparently it’s the end of summer! We haven’t seen a day over 100 in a few weeks but 95 is still a bit too warm for my liking. While I’m still holding out for that crisp fall weather I thought I would reminisce on my favorite lake moments!

Oh, and it might be time to step up and buy a new camera…mine now has a lovely gray smudge beneath the lens! Perfect excuse for an upgrade!! Continue reading
