2011 – A Few of My Favorite Things

When I was little time moved with me. If I wanted the day to go by fast it went by fast and if I wanted it to last for eternity it kindly obliged. But the older I get the more time is working against me. Always testing my patience, testing my ability to find myself in a sea of constant change, and forcing me to balance the dreams of a young girl with the responsibilities of a young adult. So as time no longer gives me the tender care it once did as a child I’m learning to race with it and find a place for myself amongst the crazy world that surrounds me.

Here’s to you 2011 for being one of the best years of my life. By feeding my dreams and testing me as a person I’ve learned so much…and it’s only just begun.

Happy New Year!!!

Quick & Easy Snacking – American Idol Recap

And just like that…it’s come and gone, another year of American Idol. Around this time last year I was anxiously awaiting the audition announcement so I could take my 5th and final stab at Idol glory! Well, needless to say I didn’t make it to the big stage, but I did get an awesome opportunity to share my love of food with Lyndsey Parker and her Yahoo! blog, Reality Rocks.

This is definitely old news by now, but Mr. Country himself, Scotty McCreery, took home the 10th season Idol crown. I’m not the biggest fan of country music, but Scotty showed a poise and charm that is rarely seen in kids his age. So I think his win was a deserving one for sure.

Scotty was actually in my line in Hollywood and I remember being completely taken back by his rich, mature voice and instant command of the stage. Country fan or not, you can’t deny that he grew from week to week and that’s what I like to see most in an Idol competitor. So congrats Scotty McCreery, you deserved it!

Side note: did anyone else see the love fest happening between Scotty and Lauren? Between the handing holding, waist grabbing, “I love you baby”, and multiple pecks on the mouth and cheeks…it’s pretty hard to deny there’s something there. Sooo cute! 🙂

If you didn’t get a chance to check out all of my recipes over the last few months then here you are, a list of everything I was serving up for American Idol Season 10!

Which recipe was your favorite? Which one was your least favorite?

The Theatrics of Pop Music

From Lady Gaga and her wicked scorched piano, to Pink and her flying trapeze in the sky, pop music is pushing the limits beyond racy midriffs and girl on girl pecks (channel Madonna, Britney, & Christina). A 16 year old Britney Spears in today’s industry wouldn’t even make your grandmother blush.

Every generation defines their own pop music. The world of millennial pop, once filled with fresh faced tartlets ready to take on the world, has been replaced with Billy Idol’s long lost children and Cher’s pant less protégés. Shocking, maybe not, but watching today’s popular music feels like watching a musical theater production on copious amounts of Rock Star and crack.

Creamy Farfalle with Turkey

In today’s economic times it’s important to save pennies any way that you can. While preparing my weekly menu I wanted to incorporate as many things from my pantry that I could. I have a tendency to LIVE at the grocery store. Nothing clears my mind like the aisles of a well stocked and diverse foodie heaven, but sometimes I can go a little overboard and tend to spend way too much. Here is what I like to call a pantry recipe, using ingredients that I already have on hand.

*Disclaimer: I didn’t measure the ingredients so these will be estimated to the best of my ability 🙂
