New Year’s Resolutions are for Suckers…So Here are Mine!

Instead of making the usual resolution of eating better and getting in shape I’m going to just assume that will become a part of my life and set some real goals. So as I sit here eating my Dominos pizza dipped in ranch (don’t hate they really have made a comeback) I’m making plans to make 2012 the best year ever.

Goal #1: BLOG MORE!!!

For all of my thousands of readers out there (a girl can dream right??) I have some good news for you…you’re about to hear a lot more from me. I LOVE to blog but unfortunately the daily grind and fact that I feel the need to do everything keeps me from finding the time to blog everyday. That is about to change. Excuses are for quitters and well…if 2012 is the last year on earth I’m going to make it the most fantastic year ever!!! 😉

Goal #2: Finish my EP!!!

2011 kicked off to an amazing start with my singing career with American Idol and it has pushed me beyond belief. But…(cue the violins) the busyness of life has kept me from accomplishing my music goals. So in the new year I want to focus more on my songwriting and finally finish my EP. I’m working with some amazing people that are pushing me in the right direction, but nobody is going to get it done but ME!!

Goal #3: Decorate my house!

Ummmmkay so this is totally embarrassing but we’re all family here so I will admit that I’ve been in my house for almost 4 years now and I have 3 bedrooms that are completely undecorated. Shame Shame!

Excuse me I need to get another piece of pizza…

Okay I’m back. So decorating takes time and money, and so does cooking and singing. The challenge will be to learn how to manage my time and resources so I’m not completely neglecting my home. Thanks to Pinterest (TOTALLY OBSESSED! PLUG: Check out my Boards HERE) I’m starting a collection of ideas to help me along the way.

I’ve definitely got my work cut out for me but as long as I can limit my time on Tumblr (Another Plug: Click HERE) and Pinterest I think I can get some stuff done. Damn you technology, I love you but you are seriously making me scatterbrained.

So here I am, speaking out into the internet void in hopes that I actually keep a resolution…I mean goal…for once in my life. I think I can do it!

What are you’re resolutions this year?? Let me know in the comments below! Love love! ❤

Perez Hilton Cover Competition – Katy Perry, The One that Got Away

Perez Hilton is holding another Cover Song Competition and this time it’s for “The One that Got Away” by Katy Perry. So of course I decided to put my own spin on the song and submit my video for the contest.

Check it out, let me know what you think, and share it with your friends!!

Perez Hilton Cover Competition – Adele, Someone Like You

Alright here’s a new video for everyone. Perez Hilton is holding another cover competition and this one is for one of my favorite songs off Adele’s sophomore album, 21, Someone Like You. I decided not to change it up too much. The song is just so beautiful on its own. I hope you like it. 🙂

Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks [Cover] – Sarah Sellers

Alright everyone I just finished a new video and I’m super excited about it. The main reason I’m so excited about it is because I finally figured out how to use my GarageBand and iMovie! Hooray!! I still have a ton to learn but at least I’m on my way. So check it out and let me know what you think. I changed it up a bit to make it my own…I hope you like it.

Help the States – BamaJam 2011 [Charity Event]

Brought to you by The Hartman House!

The Hartman House:

Hartman House is a certified 501(c)3 non profit organization founded in 2005 by Butch and Julieann Hartman of West Hills, California. Hartman House was started because the Hartman family wanted to make a difference in the world. Although the organization is based in California, its philanthropies extend all across the U.S. and into some of the most hard to reach countries in the world. From Haiti to downtown Los Angeles, Hartman House does its best to lend a helping hand to those who need it most. The Hartman’s goal is a simple one: to provide financial and spiritual support to people and organizations across the world who are in need of assistance.

This wonderful organization asked me to participate in Help the States: BamaJam 2011. A charity event created to raise $10,000 for care packages to family’s who have been affected by the tornadoes in the south. The emergency packages will include: Gift cards, toilet paper, all toiletries, flashlights, batteries, crayons, coloring books, power bars, granola bars, pedialyte, crystal light, gatorade, baby bottles, pacifiers, and small tarps for shelter.

The Hartman House has asked some amazing YouTube artists to join together and create a viral, charity event to help reach their $10k goal and beyond. So please help me out by viewing my video, sharing, tweeting, Facebooking, and most importantly, making a donation! Every little bit counts!!!

Quick & Easy Snacking – American Idol Recap

And just like that…it’s come and gone, another year of American Idol. Around this time last year I was anxiously awaiting the audition announcement so I could take my 5th and final stab at Idol glory! Well, needless to say I didn’t make it to the big stage, but I did get an awesome opportunity to share my love of food with Lyndsey Parker and her Yahoo! blog, Reality Rocks.

This is definitely old news by now, but Mr. Country himself, Scotty McCreery, took home the 10th season Idol crown. I’m not the biggest fan of country music, but Scotty showed a poise and charm that is rarely seen in kids his age. So I think his win was a deserving one for sure.

Scotty was actually in my line in Hollywood and I remember being completely taken back by his rich, mature voice and instant command of the stage. Country fan or not, you can’t deny that he grew from week to week and that’s what I like to see most in an Idol competitor. So congrats Scotty McCreery, you deserved it!

Side note: did anyone else see the love fest happening between Scotty and Lauren? Between the handing holding, waist grabbing, “I love you baby”, and multiple pecks on the mouth and cheeks…it’s pretty hard to deny there’s something there. Sooo cute! 🙂

If you didn’t get a chance to check out all of my recipes over the last few months then here you are, a list of everything I was serving up for American Idol Season 10!

Which recipe was your favorite? Which one was your least favorite?

Quick & Easy Snacking – American Idol Top 3

It’s finally here, the finale of American Idol. This week we said goodbye to our last Idol hopeful before the big finale week. Unfortunately, that person was Haley Reinhart. I’m a huge Haley fan and was totally bummed she didn’t make it to the big show. So, for the first time in Idol history, we will be seeing an all country finale. Lauren and Scotty are very talented and will have huge careers, but a Scotty and Haley finale would have totally been it for me. We will see.

Every week this Idol season I’ve had the pleasure of posting my culinary creations on Lyndsey Parker’s Yahoo! blog, Reality Rocks. Last week I was serving up Cajun Shrimp Cakes and Crawfish Spinach Dip for Leiber and Stoller week.
