Another great, new artist from across the pond, Ellie Goulding! I love this chicks voice…it’s very etherial with a hint of folk, and all of her songs have this great electronic, mellow vibe. Her album isn’t available in the States yet so I will be enjoying her tunes via YouTube! Loving it!

I was just introduced to London’s very own Paloma Faith. Although I see the direct comparison to Amy Winehouse, don’t get her confused just yet. Her voice and style is uniquely her own, and very refreshing.

The smokey sounds of today’s leading ladies, i.e. Adele, Duffy, Amy Winehouse, have set a trend in the music industry that has brought on a slew of throwback wannabes. Paloma’s debut album “Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful” is a pleasure to the ears from start to finish. Her vocals float perfectly above the music with an angelic yet powerful tone.

I’ve seen her perform a few times via youtube and her stage performance places her out in front of the aforementioned leading ladies. Her vibrance is compelling and I can’t wait until she crosses over to our side of the pond!

Happy Friday!!!

I love Fridays! It’s the weekend, time to relax, have some fun, and take a break from the daily grind. In the spirit of living for the weekend I thought I would post a fun tune to put you in that party mood!

I love Rihanna, she is fresh, unique, and puts out some pretty catchy stuff. It took me a bit longer to warm up to Rated R but I’m really loving it now. It’s definitely a different direction from Good Girl Gone Bad, and definitely from her early albums, but it shows her growth and fearlessness as an artist. I like seeing her come into her own.

Enjoy!

I’m feeling nostalgic today. I’m not sure if it’s the teenagers bringing back the 80s that I saw today, or just feeling like I need a trip down memory lane. There’s nothing better than popping in some old tunes or just stumbling across an old favorite on the radio. Here are a few tracks that take me back. Enjoy!

TGIF! I am in a total Friday party mood so what better person to listen to but new artist Ke$ha! When I first heard her catchy single Tik Tok I didn’t want to admit how much I loved it. Her music isn’t deep and it isn’t a brilliant piece of art but damn it’s fun! Music is such an amazing thing because you can find something to accommodate any mood you might be in. Ke$ha’s debut release, Animal, is nothing but pure pop goodness that just makes you want to go out and party! :)

Happy Friday!!

I just downloaded the new Alicia Keys album, The Element of Freedom, and it is every bit as good as I hoped it would be and more. Alicia Keys is by far my biggest musical influence and I have loved her music since Songs in A Minor was released in 2001. I can really feel her evolving on this record. Her vocals are fresh and showcase different tones that I haven’t heard from her before. Every track is exceptional and I am loving watching Ms. Keys evolve as an artist. Here are two of my favorite tracks off the new album! It is a must buy for sure!! :)

I was reading my daily dose of gossip on Perez Hilton when I discovered this new artist. Her name is Selah Sue and she’s from Leuven, Belgium. Her voice is so unbelievably unique and refreshing. I immediately checked out her Myspace page and listened to all of her music. She doesn’t have a full link album released yet, but if the EP is any indication of what the album will be I’m very excited! Check it out!

Lady Gaga: The Fame Monster

MyTunes! November 25, 2009

Yesterday I downloaded Lady Gaga’s new album/re-release “The Fame Monster” off of iTunes and I must say, it is fabulous! I guess you could say Gaga has become somewhat of an obsession of mine lately. I love her music, her style, her weirdness, and the way she owns all of it. You never know what she’s going to wear or do next.

I’m a lover of pop music so this satisfies my musical taste buds every time I listen. I was a bit surprised when I heard she was just simply re-releasing her debut album, “The Fame”. I hate it when artists do that, especially after you’ve spent the 13 or so dollars on it. Gaga realized she was essentially putting our her second album due to the additional 9 tracks, so she decided to release a separate album for only 8 dollars. You’ve gotta love that! So, you must download it! If you don’t have her debut album yet then go ahead and buy the deluxe edition of The Fame Monster with both combined. If you love pop music then you will not be disappointed.

Track Listing:

1. Bad Romance
2. Alejandro
3. Monster
4. Dance in the Dark
5. Telephone
6. Speechless
7. So Happy I Could Die
8. Teeth
9. Bad Romance (Starsmith Remix)

I have to recommend a track called “Walkabout” by the band Atlas Sound. One of the masterminds behind Animal Collective (Noah Lowry) sings on the track and it’s awesome.

Also, I am not a Michael McDonald fan by any means, but his collaboration w/ Grizzly Bear on the “While You Wait For The Others” track is really cool too.
