Foodie in France – Day 2: Paris

20111020-000225.jpg

Today was a beautiful day in Paris. No air conditioning or fan to drown out the silence at night meant little sleep and a determined start to the day. We started the morning with breakfast at our hotel.

The Menu

  • An assortment of meats and cheese
  • Croissants & baguettes
  • Cereal
  • Yogurt
  • Scrambled eggs

I decided to stick with the bread, cheese and salami. It was just what I needed to get me through the morning exhaustion.

Foodie in France – Day 1: Paris

20111017-094459.jpg

Our trip has finally begun! For the last three years Matt and I have been planning a dream trip to Europe. Unfortunately we only have two weeks so we decided to limit our travel time and stay in one country. We’ve both spent some significant time in Italy in the past so France it is!! What more could a foodie ask for then a country known for its decadent wine and impeccable cuisine. Let the drinking and feasting begin!

The itinerary:
• Paris
• Beaune – Burgundy Wine Country
• Lyon
• Nice

Our adventure started with an overnight flight direct to Paris. I have to give a shout-out to American Airlines. I haven’t been very pleased lately with the level of service on flights these days and the evening started with our flight being delayed almost two hours. Not only was the food good on the flight, but due to the inconvenience drinks were free the entire flight!! A few glasses of wine and some surprisingly delicious food later…it was time for a movie and an attempt at some sleep.

Cajun Bliss…New Orleans Style!

Matt and I just got back from an amazing long weekend in New Orleans. I’m ashamed to admit that it’s taken me this long to finally make it down to the Big Easy, but I made it, and it was amazing!!

My dad is a superb Cajun cook so growing up I really grew to love the cuisine. So it came as no surprise that I completely fell in love with New Orleans the moment I had my first bite of Shrimp Creole and a sip of my first Hurricane. The food was pure heaven and the atmosphere was infectious. Continue reading

Last week I covered Saag Paneer and Saffron & Nuts Pulav and now I’m down to the final two dishes. These are the ultimate in Indian comfort food; flavorful, hearty, and absolutely delicious. So give these recipes a try and feel free to tell me your favorite Indian meals! Continue reading

dishKarma – My Ultimate Meal

A few weeks ago a representative from dishKarma.com contacted me about submitting a video for their blog. This is a great organization that partners with Feed America to help battle the fight against hunger in the U.S. For every 5th dish you upload to their site, a meal will be donated to Feed America, an organization that helps aid local food banks!

For the blog section of their site they are asking foodies from all over the US to submit their Ultimate Meal. There are no rules, you can select any restaurant(s) and combination of food from anywhere in the world. Continue reading

A Taste of Pakistan: Chicken Pilau

*Update: My original post referred to this dish as Biryani. I later found out that this is actually Chicken Pilau.

A great thing about my job is that I work for such a diverse company. We have many different cultures that love to share the flavors of their world. One of the girls I work with is from Karachi and I love to sample the food that she makes. I attempted to make one of the signature dishes of her country, Chicken Pilau, and I thought I would share my experience!

Ye Ole’ Boston

My husband and I went to Boston in December and had the most amazing time. It was such a wonderful trip and I can’t say enough good things about the city of Boston. The highlight of the trip was definitely the amazing seafood, most of all, the Lobster!

Living in Dallas the extent of my Lobster feasting is when Central Market or Sprouts has a sale on Lobster tails. I rarely order it out because of the considerable cost. We probably ate it in some capacity every day of the trip, but my favorite were the Lobster Rolls!! I had never had one until Boston and now I’m officially hooked. The only problem is, where can I get a quality Lobster Roll in Dallas? Continue reading
